Prekindergarten

Our Prekindergarten program will help to ensure your child’s success in kindergarten!

Designed for children who are 4 years of age on or before August 1, our Prekindergarten classes meet 4 or 5 days each week and include morning (8:15-11:30a.m.), afternoon (12:30-3:00p.m.), or full-day (8:15a.m.-3:00p.m.) sessions. We also offer child care before and after your child’s PreK class.

Prekindergarten is taught by licensed teachers with a B.S. degree (or higher) in early childhood education, elementary education, or a related area of education.

Our curriculum is carefully aligned with Indiana’s Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards for Young Children. We believe that curriculum activities should be interesting, appropriate for your child’s age and abilities, and include opportunities for play!

Our learning activities are interesting!

Inspired by the philosophy of Reggio Emilio, our Prekindergarten curriculum includes various meaningful learning projects that emerge from the interests of the children in the classroom. From spaceships to polar bears, our projects provide great opportunities for children to learn!

Our learning activities are appropriate for each child.

We know that 4-5 year-olds are active learners! We encourage your child to increase knowledge in literacy, math, science, social studies, music, and art – through “hands-on” activities. We also include individualized instruction that assures your child’s success and challenges your child when he is ready.

Our learning activities include play!

Each day, your child will have time to play – in the classroom and on the outdoor playground. Through play, children learn to communicate thoughts and ideas, develop friendships, and work in a group. Our safe, fenced outdoor playground provides opportunities for your child to develop physical skills and to enjoy nature.

An important part of every high quality early education program is a strong emphasis on literacy development. While reading to your child is very important, our literacy program also includes listening for comprehension, identification of letters and sounds, concepts of print, writing for communication – and more! We want your child to become a GREAT reader!

We communicate frequently with families.

Weekly calendars, progress updates, parent-teacher conferences, and parent meetings and events are all part of our program. Our Prekindergarten teachers, families, and children work together to build caring classroom communities where children want to learn – and enjoy learning!
